Fryums packaging requires specific engineering attention because the product is both fragile and dusty—a challenging combination for automated packaging. The fragile nature of snack pellets means every product drop or impact can generate broken pieces that degrade bag appearance and customer perception. ECHO's low-drop-height configuration raises the forming tube relative to the weigher discharge, reducing the free-fall distance to the minimum required for reliable bag filling. The forming tube interior is polished to reduce friction and prevent pellet hang-up. Dust generation from starch-coated pellets creates a second challenge: starch dust settles on film surfaces and prevents proper heat sealing. ECHO addresses this through ionizing bars along the film path that neutralize static charges (preventing dust attraction) and a vacuum extraction hood at the fill point that captures airborne particles before they settle. The seal jaw design includes a self-cleaning profile that sheds any residual dust, and an automated jaw-wipe cycle can be programmed to activate at intervals during extended production runs. For export-market fryums packed before frying, nitrogen flushing extends the shelf life of the oil-containing pellets by preventing oxidative rancidity.
