Live fish packing presents unique packaging requirements distinct from processed seafood packaging: the package contains water and live animals, making seal integrity absolutely critical—a single leaker means loss of the entire bag's contents. ECHO Machinery's live fish packing bag machines are configured for this high-consequence application. The sealing system uses wide-format bars (typically 8-12mm seal width versus 3-5mm for dry products) creating a broader, more robust seal area on the thick polyethylene films used in live fish transport (typically 100-200 microns). The pneumatic clamping system supports the filled bag weight—a 20-liter water-filled bag weighs approximately 20kg—during the sealing cycle, preventing the weight from pulling the seal area and causing distortion. The machine operates in the wet environment of live fish packing facilities, with stainless steel construction, waterproof electrical enclosures (IP66 minimum), and sloped surfaces that direct water away from critical components. The sealing temperature is controlled for PE films—lower than the temperatures used for laminate films—with precise regulation to create consistent bonds without burning or weakening the film. For ornamental fish packing, where bags are typically smaller (2-10 liters), the machine can be configured with appropriate bag guides and sealing bar width. For aquaculture and live food fish transport using larger bags (20-50 liters), the sealing station is scaled accordingly. Oxygen filling—injecting pure oxygen into the bag headspace before sealing, standard practice for live fish transport—can be integrated into the packaging cycle.
