Flow Wrap Bag Machine for Flexible Packaging Production

ECHO Machinery flow wrap bag machines produce pillow pack and fin-seal bags from flat roll stock in a continuous wrapping process. These systems handle a broad spectrum of products—from fresh produce and baked goods to industrial components and medical devices—at adjustable speeds between 40 and 200 packs per minute. The flow wrap bag configuration creates a tight, tamper-evident package with longitudinal and transverse seals that protect contents from contamination and moisture. Each machine features a cantilevered design for easy film threading, digital temperature controllers with auto-tuning, and an intuitive color touchscreen for parameter management. Available options include gas flushing, automatic feeders, date coders, and tear-notch perforators. ECHO flow wrap bag machines are compatible with heat-sealable films including BOPP, CPP, laminated structures, and cold-seal materials for heat-sensitive items.

Company Advantages

Cantilevered Open-Frame Construction

The cantilever design provides unobstructed access to the film path and sealing area, reducing film threading time to under 3 minutes and simplifying daily sanitation procedures.

Auto-Tuning Digital Temperature Control

Each sealing zone features independent PID controllers with auto-tuning algorithms that self-calibrate to film type and ambient conditions, maintaining seal quality without manual parameter adjustment.

Broad Product Size Compatibility

Adjustable forming box and product guides accommodate items from 40mm to 500mm in length and up to 200mm in width, with automatic film width centering for consistent registration.

Related products

Flow wrap bag technology is the foundation of modern flexible packaging, and ECHO Machinery has engineered these systems for reliability across diverse production environments. The flow wrap process begins with a flat film roll unwinding through a forming box that shapes it into a tube around the product. Longitudinal sealing wheels create the back seal—either fin-seal or lap-seal depending on film type—while the cross-seal jaws simultaneously seal the trailing edge of one bag and the leading edge of the next. ECHO machines use servo-driven jaw motion with electronic cam profiling that optimizes dwell time for each film type. The cantilevered construction is particularly valued in food production environments where daily washdown is required; all electrical enclosures are IP65-rated, and sloped surfaces prevent water pooling. An adjustable discharge conveyor with optional reject station handles finished bags, directing them to downstream metal detection or check-weighing equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between fin-seal and lap-seal on a flow wrap bag?

A fin-seal creates a protruding fin on the back or bottom of the bag by sealing the inside surfaces of the film together—common for BOPP and laminate films. A lap-seal overlaps one film edge over the other and seals the inside of one edge to the outside of the other—typical for polyethylene films that do not seal well inside-to-inside. ECHO machines can be configured for either seal type.
Compatible films include BOPP (both single-layer and coextruded), cast polypropylene (CPP), polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE), polyester laminates, metallized films, cold-seal coated materials, and paper-laminate composites. Film thickness range is 15–80 microns depending on the material structure.
Servo-driven film feed with laser-edge detection maintains registration within 0.5mm, minimizing print misalignment rejects. The auto-splice system reduces leader/trailer waste during roll changes, and the control system automatically shortens the end-seal area when approaching roll core to maximize film utilization.

Customer Testimonials

Pierre Lefevre
Workhorse machine for our bakery

We run two ECHO flow wrap bag machines for our artisan bread line, each handling approximately 80,000 bags per week. The cantilever design makes film changes incredibly fast, and seal consistency has been excellent across both polypropylene and paper-laminate films.

Rachel Thompson
Simple to operate, reliable output

Training new operators on this flow wrap machine takes less than a day. The touchscreen interface is genuinely intuitive, and the auto-tuning temperature control means we rarely need to adjust parameters even when switching between film suppliers.
