Truffle chocolate packaging represents the most demanding application in chocolate wrapping, combining product fragility with premium presentation requirements. Cold-seal film is essential: truffle centers—typically ganache, cream, or caramel—melt or soften at the temperatures used for heat-seal films (120-180°C), causing filling leakage and shape deformation. Cold-seal film bonds through pressure-sensitive adhesive at ambient temperature, preserving the truffle's structure and appearance throughout the wrapping process. The cocoa powder dusting common on truffle surfaces creates a secondary challenge: the fine powder becomes airborne during handling and settles on film surfaces, particularly in the seal area where it prevents proper film bonding. ECHO addresses this through ionizing bars that neutralize static charges (preventing dust attraction to film) and vacuum extraction that captures airborne particles at the product handling area. The forming box uses adjustable product guides with reduced contact pressure, creating a slightly looser film tube that secures the product without compressing the soft center. For trayed truffle assortments, the forming box height adjusts to accommodate the tray, and the film wrap secures the tray with controlled tension that prevents lid displacement.
