Stick pack packaging has grown rapidly as consumers and brands recognize the format's advantages: exceptional portability, precise portion control, and minimal material usage. ECHO Machinery's stick pack machines build on the company's multi-lane sachet technology with specific adaptations for the narrow, elongated format. The forming process creates individual film tubes through a series of forming shoulders that progressively shape the flat film web into parallel tubes of 15-40mm width. Each tube receives product through a dedicated filling station, typically an auger filler for powders or a piston filler for liquids and pastes. The longitudinal seal is created continuously as the tubes pass through heated rollers, and the transverse end seals are created by a single set of wide sealing jaws spanning all lanes. After sealing, individual stick packs are separated by slitting wheels between lanes and guillotine cutters between packs. The narrow format presents unique challenges: the small opening requires precise filling nozzle alignment, and the limited seal area demands consistent temperature control to avoid seal failures on the narrow margins. ECHO addresses these through optical nozzle positioning systems and multi-point temperature monitoring on all seal surfaces. For nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications requiring validated processes, the machine includes 21 CFR Part 11 compliant data logging and user access controls.
