Fishing lure packaging serves both protective and marketing functions: the package must protect the product during distribution and display while presenting it attractively to anglers making purchase decisions. Spinnerbaits present specific challenges: their wire-form construction creates sharp points that can puncture standard films, their 3D shape with spinning blades requires packaging depth that flat formats cannot provide, and their retail display typically uses pegboard hanging requiring standardized hanging holes. The thermoformed blister or clamshell format solves these challenges: a clear plastic blister is formed to the lure's shape, providing a protective cavity that accommodates the 3D form. The blister is sealed to a printed backing card that carries brand graphics, product information, and a standardized hanging hole. For simpler spinnerbait designs, flow-wrap packaging with tear-resistant film provides a cost-effective alternative, with the film conforming to the product shape. The film used must be puncture-resistant to prevent the sharp wire ends and blade edges from piercing the package.
