Side gusset packaging is the preferred format for granular and powder products where package stability and efficient cube utilization are critical. ECHO Machinery side gusset machines create the characteristic W-fold profile through a three-stage forming process: initial center crease, progressive angle folding plates, and final gusset depth setting before the longitudinal seals close the tube. The filling section can be configured with an auger filler for powders requiring dust control, a volumetric cup filler for free-flowing granules, or an interface for an external multi-head weigher for high-accuracy applications. Product settling is achieved through a vibratory conveyor section that oscillates the partially filled bag to compact the contents before the top seal closes—this reduces headspace, improves case packing density, and prevents bag collapse during shipping. For dusty powder products, an optional vacuum dust extraction hood captures airborne particles at the filling station. The machine control system logs fill weights and seal temperatures for quality documentation.
