The flat bottom—sometimes called box-bottom or block-bottom—requires precise film folding and sealing to create a rectangular base that stands stably on retail shelves. ECHO's forming station uses servo-driven folding plates with optical sensors that verify bottom panel geometry before the pouch proceeds to filling. If the bottom panel is outside tolerance, the pouch is rejected before product is dispensed—preventing product waste in a malformed package. This quality verification ensures that every retail bag presents correctly on shelf, with no leaning or tipping that would degrade brand presentation. The five-panel design provides significantly more branding surface than three-panel pillow packs or four-panel side-gusset bags.
