Disposable coffee cup packaging serves a critical hygiene function: protecting the food-contact surfaces of nested cups from environmental contamination between manufacture and use. ECHO Machinery's coffee cup packaging machines create a complete film overwrap that seals the cup stack from dust, moisture, and handling contamination. The packaging process begins with cup stacks arriving on the infeed conveyor—typically directly from an upstream cup counting and stacking machine. The flighted infeed conveyor separates stacks and feeds them into the film wrapping station. The forming box creates a film tube around the stack, and the longitudinal and transverse seals create a complete overwrap. The forming box height and product guides are adjustable for different cup sizes and stack heights, with recipe storage for each configuration. The film tension is carefully controlled: sufficient to create a secure package that holds the stack together, but not so tight that it deforms the cups—deformed cups are a significant quality issue because they don't separate properly when dispensed. For branded cup packaging where the overwrap carries the cup brand's graphics, registered print film is used with optical mark detection maintaining graphics alignment. Perforation or tear-tape features provide easy opening for the end user—typically a barista or food service worker who needs to access cup stacks quickly during busy service periods. The machine's cantilevered frame design enables rapid film changes and cleaning. For high-volume cup manufacturing, the machine can be integrated into a fully automated line from cup forming through stacking, wrapping, and case packing.
